Royals Team Program Overview 

EPWBA Royals Basketball: Our mission is to develop disciplined athletes who embrace their own unique path to success. We believe winning goes beyond the scoreboard—it’s built through skill development, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the court. In a world of quick trends and highlight reels, we stand firm in teaching players to trust the process, work hard, and build lasting habits that prepare them for the next level of basketball and life. 

Rooted in the historic legacy of Prince William County basketball, EPWBA Royals carries forward a tradition of champions by fostering resilience, pride, and purpose in every player who wears our jersey. This program is designed for athletes who want more than recreational play—it’s about competing, developing, and preparing to win championships.

Winter Team Season (October - March) 

Players chosen for the Winter Travel Season will represent EPWBA Royals in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League (FCYBL). EPWBA Royals is proud to be the only program exclusively representing the Eastern side of Prince William County in FCYBL competition.  

The Season: will run approximately 13 games plus playoffs. Half of the FCYBL games will be hosted by us, EPWBA, in Eastern Prince William County, and the other half will be spread throughout Fairfax County. 

Game Dates: Nov 1, 2025 – Mar 8, 2026 (Practices begin late October) 

Practices:  Mandatory two (2) times a week 

Players will receive an Official EPWBA Royals jersey set, a team warm-up shirt, and access to discounted or FREE out of practice developmental opportunities.

Players must commit to at least two team practices per week  and ongoing skill development on their own time to complement team workouts. 

Type of Players we Need: 

 

  • Commitment: Consistently attend practices, games, and training sessions 
  • Work Ethic: Willingness to put in effort both during practice and outside of team sessions 
  • Coachability: Openness to feedback and dedication to improving every aspect of their game 
  • Team-First Mindset: Respect for coaches, teammates, referees, and the game itself 
  • Discipline & Character: Strong sportsmanship; misconduct or bullying will not be tolerated 
  • Passion for Growth: Desire to compete at a high level and prepare for future opportunities

 

Summer Team Season (April - July)

Players chosen for the Summer Royals AAU Season will represent EPWBA Royals in various AAU Summer tournaments. EPWBA. All tournaments will be within a 1 - 2 hour drive in an effort to ensure development, competitive play, without burdening families with travel expenses and large tournament costs. 

The Season: will consist of approximately six (6) - eight (8) AAU tournaments, usually two (2) a month between May - July 31. 

Practices: Mandatory two (2) times a week 

Dates: Practices begin mid-March. Tournaments begin in May - July 31st 2026

Players will receive an Official EPWBA Royals jersey set, a team warm-up shirt, ball bags and access to discounted or FREE out of practice developmental opportunities.

EPWBA Royals is not just another program—we’re proven winners. Our Royals teams have already made their mark: winning two AAU tournament championships this summer and finishing as FCYBL Runner-Up Champions in their very first season. Now, we’re taking it even further. EPWBA Royals is opening limited roster spots for serious and talented players who are ready to compete at the highest level. 

Completely Separate From Rec

EPWBA Royals is an elite travel program and is not part of the recreational league.

Certified Coaching

Our staff are USA Basketball Gold Certified and connected with local PWC high school programs, ensuring training that prepares players for the next level.

High-Level Competition

We’re back in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League (FCYBL), one of the most competitive travel leagues in the region. Our objective is clear: win the FCYBL Championship while sharpening skills for another strong Summer AAU run.

Player Development

With the Royals, players focus on advanced skills, teamwork, discipline, and mental toughness—tools for success both on and off the court.

Professional Program

Full uniforms, warm-up shirts, and team bags are provided so players can represent EPWBA with pride.

Player Selection 

All registered EPWBA Royals team players are evaluated at fall Tryout sessions (see below). Evaluations are conducted by EPWBA Royals coaches. Selected players and parents must sign a Statement of Understanding committing to the program. Parents must submit a tournament availability form at the start of the summer season. Players are expected to maintain discipline and sportsmanship; misconduct or bullying is grounds for dismissal. 

For the summer, players must commit to a minimum of five (5) out of the six (6) tournaments.
